Carlex Glass America has been named the recipient of the 2026 Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Award for Sustainable Performance by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate a holistic, long-term commitment to incorporating environmental responsibility into their operations, decision-making and future planning. Carlex was selected for the significant sustainability achievements made at our Nashville manufacturing facility through participation in TVA’s EnergyRight Strategic Energy Management program.
During a transformative two-year initiative, the Nashville team achieved 3.4 million kilowatt-hours of energy savings between October 2024 and the end of 2025. Improvements included replacing compressed-air cooling with more efficient fan-forced solutions and upgrading key production equipment to reduce electrical demand. These efforts surpassed the facility’s initial energy-savings targets while uncovering additional opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Beyond the impact within our facility, reducing electricity demand helps ease strain on Nashville’s power grid, improve energy reliability for neighboring communities and support a more resilient regional energy system.
This recognition reflects the ingenuity, collaboration and commitment of our Nashville team and everyone who contributed to the initiative. Their work demonstrates how environmental stewardship and operational excellence can go hand in hand.
Carlex will be formally recognized alongside this year’s other award recipients at the Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Awards event in September.
